Week 36 Photos

Sunday, August 30, 2009

We attended a picnic for the local union at the coal mine at Olgebay Park.  They had lots of food and gave away lots of prizes.  We didn't win any big prizes, but Rick did get a small knife.

We left for a small trip in the RV.  First stop, Covington, Va to put flowers on Mom and Dad's graves.  I miss them very much!

We stayed an extra night so that I could see my good friend Jenny!  It was great seeing her again!  We spent a lovely evening with her and her family.

We left Covington and drove to Roanoke to see Sue and Jill, my sister and niece.  We had a great time - went to the Paperback Exchange, had a fantastic meal, and lots of chit-chat!!

We're on the road again.  This time to Elkton, Va to visit some of Rick's family. First his sister Teresa and her hubby Teddy.

Today is also his sister Sonja's birthday!  She's out west and we hope to see her sometimes in the next year.  In the meantime, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONJA!!!!!

We stayed an extra day at Teresa's and they took us to Massanutten Resort where I got a photo of this wood carving.

We headed up to Hagerstown, Maryland to see his brother Joe and his family whom we haven't seen in quite a few years.  Here's a photo of Joe and Rick.

We enjoyed staying in the RV but had trouble finding campgrounds where we were headed.  The only nights we stayed in a campground was the two nights in Covington.  We boondocked the rest of the time in the families' yards or in front of their house.  That's okay, but rather limiting.  We had everything we needed but were unable to run the generator a lot because we didn't want to disturb the neighbors.  We pulled Mom's car behind us and really only ran into trouble once. We went to Camping World on Friday looking for a dump site.  Since they are an RV store, we thought the parking lot would circle around behind the store.  It didn't!  Since you can't back up with a tow dolly, we had to take the car off the dolly, move the dolly aside, turn the RV around, hook up the dolly, and then load the car.  We weren't under any pressure because that side of the lot was low traffic so I guess it was good practice.  We're looking forward to more trips and hopefully this time staying a good campground.
