I've been craving fish, so where do you go?  The fish market of course!  We went to Wheeling and bought several pounds of fish to put in the freezer.  On Fridays, everyplace in the valley has fish frys with Coleman fish.  It's great.  Of course they sell everything I think except maybe lobsters, at least I've never seen any.  It's all fresh and delicious.

As I was fixing a cup of coffee this morning, I looked out the kitchen window and saw this.  I'm sorry my zoom lense won't go any closer.  I had to go upstairs to get a good photo.  The only thing I could get from the ground was it's head.

I got a coupon for a free 8 x 8 book from Shutterfly (the book is free but you pay for the shipping - around $9.00)  I don't like the 8 x 8 size.  I prefer the 12 x 12.  Since I didn't have any use for it, Rick asked me to do a book of his motorcycles.  While he has had quite a few, they weren't enough to fill a 20 page book so I included some of his favorite trucks and 4 wheelers.  I spent the whole day going through photos, scanning them and negatives, fixing the photos, uploading them, and creating the books.  I finished around 10:00 pm and ordered the book.  It didn't look too bad! You are looking at a super huge project.  We have always kept our negatives of our photos in the safe deposit box in case of a fire.  I decided I wanted to convert our old photos to digital so I brought them home and am gradually scanning the negatives into digital.  When you have over 30 years of photos this is no small task.  I've finished all my mom's negatives and done some of ours but still have all of these to go.  It's time consuming and very boring.

Speaking of Katie, this is where she spends most of her days.  She has to be close.  Of course, it's not me she's laying on, but Rick doesn't have a dog and he doesn't even like her! Yeah, tell me another one!

Since I'm griping this week I'm going to do another.  This is a cactus plant that Rick has babied for years.  It was just a little thing in a 2" pot when he got it and it's now about 8 inches wide.  He wasn't going to bring it inside this winter but I talked him into it (dumb me)  The only place suitable for it is by the back door where Katie goes in and out.  The pot is on the side where the light switch is.  Every time I have on my robe it snags it when I cut the light on and off.  I'm afraid either me or Katie will end up getting too close to the needles and they're pretty sharp!

We recycle some.  The dog shelter asks for pop cans and newspapers to recycle to help support the shelter. We've got  ours bagged and ready to take.

It must be my week to gripe!  Now I can't find my favorite pop in the stores anymore.  I contacted Dr. Pepper and they said the local bottler must have decided against carrying it which is their choice.  So I have to find a new pop to drink.

We ran up to the new mall.  Most of the big stores moved from the indoor mall to this little strip mall.  It's the place to go for shopping in this area now.  I really don't like it.  Instead of being indoors and walking from store to store, you have to move your car and are in all kinds of weather.

Happy Valentine's Day!!! We're not really great on celebrating holidays but I did manage to get Rick a couple of cards and a small box of candy while I was out this week.  His sweet tooth is just as bad if not worse than mine!! Since I told him no candy, he got me a card a a little stuffed bear!!  Of course we did dinner at the Mexican restaurant but that's a Tuesday and Saturday ritual here.

I've been having real trouble finding a nice fitting bra.  I've been trying to get to Pittsburgh for over two months to go to Nordstrom's and get fitted.  ( Of course, it has to be in Pittsburgh through the downtown area)

I don't want to try navigating Pittsburgh traffic when the roads are bad but today was perfect.  Here's a photo of the downtown area as we headed home.  Right after I snapped this we got into the traffic snafu and it took about 30 minutes to move a mile!

I went out yesterday to buy some colored crochet thread and also got Katie a new toy.  She has stopped playing with it.  I can't get anything done because she keeps wanting to play.  It's a goose and it honks instead of squeaking.  She loves it!

Since I decided to do some crocheting of course I had to look at things on the web.  A couple of really cute pattern books caught my eye that I just had to have.  They came in the mail today.  I love the Holiday Table Toppers.  It has the cutest holiday ones in it.  Too late for Valentine's Day I'll have to start on St. Patrick's Day.

Today is sort of sad day.  It was two years ago today that I lost Molly my first cocker spaniel.  She was ill and died while we were on a cruise to Mexico.  I still miss her.  Katie is a doll and much more affectionate but Molly was so sweet and such a delightful dog.  This is a page I did when I lost her showing her life.

We went to the mall today.  We stopped by Alltel and renewed our contract for another two years and got new phones.  Mine is red and Rick's is blue.

My tennis shoes and ipod - I need to do a lot more of this!!! Of course it's one of my most dreaded things to do but I'm trying to make sure I do at least thirty minutes a day on the treadmill.  It should be at least an hour but I can't seem to make myself do that!

Wabbit tracks!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We have a rabbit living under our deck out back.  We don't see it because Katie is constantly after it. The only sign you see are the tracks in the snow and it's droppings.

I was really frustrated this morning.  Of course I was working on taxes.  The site was slow and I couldn't find what I was looking for.  Thank goodness this was just a trial run to give me an idea of whether we were paying, breaking even, or getting a refund this year.  So far it looks like we might get a tiny refund - I'm keeping my fingers crossed because not everything has arrived yet.

I'm watching alot more TV than I used to.  Of course I have more time now.  But that creates a problems - most of my snacking is done while I'm watching TV. I need  something to occupy my hands.  The light in the winter is too dim for me to cross stitch anymore but I can crochet.  I pulled out some of my mother-in-laws old doilies and am remaking them just to have something to do.  Maybe I can quit snacking so much - I really need to lose lots of weight.

Since I've been stuck in the house, I've been working on a hybrid address book.  I finished it today but I'm not completely happy with it.  It's okay but didn't look quite like I thought it would.

Since the ice storm, we've not ventured out much.  Rick has taken Katie for a walk a time or two, but I don't walk on ice.  When they came in today, Rick took off his gloves and laid them down to take the leash and harness off Katie.  She stole one of them and he chased her all over the house to keep her from chewing it up.  She loves to be chased!!  She's poised - ready to run if he gets too close!

I had a surprise arrive in the mail today.  My good friend Liz from San Antonio sent Katie a new Xmas stocking.  It's absolutely darling but Wow is Katie going to get lots of presents in order to fill it!!!  It's approximately 28 inches tall and 16 inches wide!  That's a big stocking!!  Katie is licking her chops in anticipation of next Xmas.
